Please use our 24-hour absence line 419-937-2802 when calling in a students absence, leave your name, students name, grade and the reason for the absence. When your student returns to school, a note with the dates of absence, the reason for the absence, and parent signature must be turned into the office.

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball Team for winning their 2nd consecutive  District Championship last weekend in Fostoria. They played last night in the Regional Semi-Finals but, unfortunately, their season came to an end when they lost to Ottoville. Thank you to everybody that came and supported the team in Elida last night, especially to Dr. Tim and Jill Beidelschies for paying $3 towards each student ticket to allow as many students possible to attend. They truly had a great season and thank everyone for their support.

Congratulations to Caden Crawford for placing 6th at the District Wrestling Tournament last weekend. Blake Hoover, Lance Crawford, and Kole Freeman also participated. All boys had a great season and look forward to next year competing again.

Congratulations to the following Boys' Basketball Post Season Honors! Caden Hoover - Honorable Mention BVC and Fostoria Athletic Boosters All-Star Game participant, Brock Williams - Academic All BVC, Kyle Rumschlag - Honorable Mention BVC, Travis Milligan - Honorable Mention District 6 and 3rd Team BVC, Jordyn Jury - 2nd All-District 6 and 1st Team BVC. 

Congratulations to HL FFA Members for bringing home Banner and Scholarships. Denver Staib & Gaige Hess placed 3rd in the State Ag Power CDE. This event was sponsored by the University of Northwest Ohio and they have both been offered $5000 scholarships to attend the University. Great Job Boys!

Terri Greene advanced easily past the sub District and Stymied the competition at Districts to place 15th in the State in the Advanced Creed Speaking CDE last weekend. Great Job Terri!

Cheerleading - Any JH/HS interested in trying out for 2019-2020 Cheerleading season, please pick up a tryout packet in the office. Cheer Clinic is March 18th and 19th and Tryouts will be on Thursday, March 21st.

PopSockets - The Junior Class is having a fundraiser and selling H-L Chieftains PopSockets for your mobile device. PopSockets are $12 each. You can purchase them from Mrs. Gleinas, Mrs. Hoffman or in the office.

National Machinery Citizenship Awards Night - Monday, March 11th at New Riegel High School. Music starts at 6:40, Awards at 7:00 pm.

Ford Drive 4 UR School Fundraiser - Thursday, March 14th 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm at Reineke's Tiffin Ford in Tiffin. H-L  will receive $20 per test drive (up to $6,000) from Ford Motor Company towards the Elementary, Senior Class and Athletic Boosters! Support H-L and take a FREE test drive!

Senior Class Trip to New York is March 19 - March 22nd.

Junior High- There will be a dance on March 30th, 7-9 pm. The cost of the dance is $5 and you can sign up in Study Hall with Mrs. Hoffman.

Prom is on May 11th 5:30 - 11:00 with more information to come.

H-L Talent Show - March 23rd at 7:00 PM Rehearsals will be on March 14th at 6:30 PM

NHS - is having a stuffed animal drive March 11-25th. We are asking for new, or like new, stuffed animals and children's books. Donations may be placed in containers located near the HS entrance and the Elementary entrance. Donations will be given to Tiffin Salvation Army and used in Easter baskets which will be given to local children.

Juniors: will be taking the ACT test on Tuesday, March 12th, they will be bussed from school at 8:05 to Meadowbrook to take the test, and back to school around 11:00.

HL Student Council is sponsoring our spring Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, March 20th. If you are interested in donating, please see the signup sheet in study hall with Mrs. Hoffman. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Jury.

NHS -Hopes you are collecting pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Give the pull tabs to your homeroom teacher. If you do not have a homeroom you can consider the office as your homeroom. Label your containers of tabs with your homeroom teacher's name and give to Mrs. Bodart in the library. The homeroom with the most pull tabs will receive orange juice and donuts! All pull tabs must be turned in by April 5th.

Reminder we have started Speed Camp it's every Saturday morning at 9 am in the Chieftain Gym. This is free and open to all athletes grades 7-12. 

SENIORS - The deadline to order your cap and gown is March 31st in order to guarantee delivery by Graduation!

Graduation Invites - There are individual ones for sale for $1 in the office.

SENIORS: Please continue to check the scholarship page, several scholarships have been updated recently.

Career Fair - March 27th 8:45-9:30 am at Columbian High School

Don't forget to clean out your closets, the Junior class is collecting gently worn, used and new shoes of any kind. Ask your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to donate. Collected shoes are used to support micro-enterprise vendors. Collection boxes are located in the office and throughout the school now and until March 1, 2019!

***All students must park in the student parking lot and use the student entrance only.    Do not drive behind the school.

SADD - 1st and 3rd Fridays at 7:15 am

Traveling Ensemble - Tuesday & Thursday at 7:15 am

FFA - 2nd Friday at 6:15 am

REMINDER: Please do not open doors for anyone trying to enter the building...other students, parents, visitors, delivery people etc. Please direct them to enter the office doors. This is a very important part of our security for our building.
